Matt and I recently attended a baby basics class through Kaiser. A Six hour long information session all about baby. We were both excited to attend this class, just to get an idea of different things to expect, different techniques to sooth baby and of course the how to's. This class was supposed to be a three in one class- Baby Basics- Labor and delivery- and Breastfeeding. As it turns out it was about 75% breastfeeding information, 10% labor and delivery information and 15% baby basics information (how to swaddle, change a diaper, bathing tips and pointers, feeding and when to call the doctor).
We enjoyed the class and hope to be able to apply some of the things we learned. I was really disappointed that they did not go into labor and delivery more. The description read "Labor and delivery-Breathing techniques and advice for your partner". We did not get any of that. I am nervous for delivery because of how many different ways it can go. I am an overall calm person, so I don't see my self as the screaming terror type, but your never know. I have heard horror stories, beautiful stories, tragic stories and stories I probably could have done with out. I just want to be prepared, so Matt and I (well me mostly) are looking into other classes. Who knows if it will actually benefit us when labor day comes, but its worth a try right?
This weekend has been very productive- We finished all of our Christmas shopping, Made a couple purchases for Bostyn's nursery (see below), did some much needed organizing, got a pedicure (so relaxing) and attended a wedding...and its only Sunday afternoon. The only thing left to do is Costco.
When we started looking at rockers for Bostyn's room we were all about the nifty gliders. We have heard nothing but good things about these gliders. So while out and about discussing the many different circumstances the glider would come in handy, my school schedule came up. Matt will be home with Bostyn two nights a week just she and him ( I only have a little over a year left for my BA =D) so he is very interested in the comfort part if him and Bostyn happen to be having a rough night. So.. we went from looking at gliders, to looking at recliners. Typical man right.. lol. So we purchased Bostyn's ( I refuse to call it Matt's) recliner this weekend.
Matt is keeping it in the living room for "testing" as he calls it. When its go time he will move it to Bostyn's room. I have to say that this chair is dangerously comfortable. It was sweet, after he attached the pieces Matt went straight to Bostyn's room and grabbed the boppy so I could test it out as if I were feeding her. It really is the little things that make you realize how awesome your guy is...
Our other purchase was her dresser. We actually bought it a couple weeks ago, but it just came in...and just like every other thing that has entered our home in a box, it was in pieces in seconds. He loves putting things together. ..and he went and picked it up it in pouring rain.
This is not the exact placement..I don't think.. we will see. I am excited to put everything in its place and start to put up the decorations we have for her room. I must say it looks more and more like a room everyday.
After all the fun we got dressed up and headed to The Niece wedding.
After the wedding, I dropped Matt off to hang out with some friends and I headed home to finish wrapping all the Christmas presents...
Busy but productive weekend for sure... and now to Costco we go.
Oh and here is a snapshot of my belly at 31 Weeks
Only 8 Weeks to go!!!
