Why hello there… It’s been so LONG!!
So much has happened since my last blog that I don’t know where to start. I have been so crazy busy with work, school, personal stuff and just everyday life. I’m going to have to break this up in sections to get you all up to date =)
Let’s start where we left off…
Halloween
I look forward to Halloween every year; it’s just a fun holiday to celebrate. I love dressing up and thinking of what fun costume I can wear and what I can make for Matt to wear. This year Halloween played out a bit different than what we are used to. We didn’t do a darn thing!! …as far as parties and such. We were invited to several and had planned to make it to a couple, but when it came down to it, we both were not into it. In fact we were more interested in talking about what we would be dressing Bostyn in next year. Which I already told Matt it would be something Disney related! As for the day of Halloween; we had brunch and enjoyed quality time with the Hincks.
…A nice relaxing weekend quickly turned sour the following Monday. I got the flu! I was laid out sick all week Monday through Thursday. The upsetting part of this is that I got my flu shot…what the heck?!?!
That Friday was my 25th birthday. I was feeling much better thank goodness. I celebrated at Dave & Busters, which was way more fun then I thought it would be. That place is like Chuck E Cheese for adults! Since I couldn’t accept birthday drinks everyone gave me their tickets they had won instead… I was excited.
Baby Shower
On November 13th I had my baby shower. I was just barley 7 months pregnant, but I decided to have it early to avoid interrupting the holidays and running into people traveling and what not.
My Grandmother, two cousins; Karissa & Kaitlyn and Sharissa threw me the shower.
I must must must thank my Grandma!! Anyone, who knows me, knows how important this lady is to me. We share an amazing relationship and with out her I don’t know what I’d do.
She created the most beautiful shower for me, I could not have asked for it to have been any better. Everything I wanted or pictured my shower to be my Grandma made it happen. She had some very helpful sidekicks too! So I thank you all so much for putting so much hard work into my shower, making it so very special. I love you guys so much.
Thank you to everyone who made it, to share in this next chapter of our lives! We could not ask for greater friends and family to surround ourselves with… and soon Bostyn too!!
(Things have been hectic, but I promise I am putting time aside this weekend to send out my thank you cards, there were a couple of gifts with no card or tag so if you don’t receive a thank you card within the next two weeks, its only because I didn’t know who the gift came from)
Bostyn is one spoiled baby, let me tell you! Bostyn received so many wonderful gifts. We received amazing hand crafted goodies, adorable clothes, many necessities, lots of fun toys, many books and keepsake items. Everyone told me not to shop for her until after the shower…and now I know why! We even got all of our big items (all from Bostyn’s Great Grandma) including our stroller and car seat duo, swing, bouncer, highchair, and our pack n play. After the shower the only items we need are a breast pump and monitor! Pretty amazing if you ask me!
I tried to socialize a little here and a little there, its so hard with a big group so if I didn’t get to you I am sorry and I appreciate you being there to celebrate! I was so busy running around that I didn’t get many pictures.. =( I am so sad about this too. I should have asked someone to man my camera for me; by the time I did it was present time. These pictures are fun for me to look through, but I don’t know how exciting they’d be for you.
Here are a few:
This one is Blurry, I will have to take a better picture of these blocks that Amy hand made for Bostyn. They are to die for.
A surprise present from Daddy!!...and it begins!!!
I was so tired by this point..
You better believe I was going through everything that next day, and the following weekend we started organizing her room starting with the closet; her clothes are organized from newborn to 18 months, her changing tabled is equipped with all the necessary items and her toys are separated by the age that she can use them. All her bath time stuff is organized too. Don’t worry we still have lots to do in the next couple of months
.
Our list consists of buying:
a dresser;
a bookshelf;
shelves for her room;
a baby monitor (all suggestions welcome);
a breast pump (Suggestions please); and
any other miscellaneous items we need to make her nursery “Bostyn’s nursery”
Thanksgiving
We spent Thanksgiving between both of our families. We started the day at Matt’s parent’s house and finished the day at my Grandparents. The time off work was so nice. Our four day weekend was spent shopping (black Friday steals) and relaxing just Matt and I. Tons of H.W. too.
Welcome and Unwelcome advice
So now that my belly is in full bloom and there is no doubting my pregnancy we have been receiving floods of advice. Some advice from parents, others from people “who know everything”. I don’t mind it, it’s when I throw my own two sense in the mix is when people love to tell me how its all wrong and I need, really stressed need to do something this way or that way. When this topic is brought up Matt and I always start our sentence with “our plan for now…” We know that not everything we “plan” will work, and we are open to that. Bostyn will have her own agenda and we are well aware of this, but whose to say what we “plan” to do won’t fit into that agenda of hers? Then again I have heard great advice, advice that I hope works for us… I can only imagine what it will be like when she is actually here.. YIKES!
Boys are the worst, why is it that men without children, or children in their immediate future like to think that your life is over because your having a baby????? I am confused! Having a baby is such an amazing life changing experience! Yes our lives will be very different, and a lot of those changes have already kicked in just with the pregnancy alone; and we couldn’t be happier… This is not something we fell into, we genuinely wanted this and instead of counting all the things we can’t do once Bostyn is here, (something Matt is reminded of frequently) we are counting all of the new experiences we will get to share with our baby girl once she is here. So yes this is our life, and we couldn’t be happier!
Tonight we are decorating our tree!! our tree that has been up since Saturday, but because of work and school we have not been able to decorate it. I cant wait!!
Oops! My gift didn't have a card (I found it in the backseat after we got home) It was 2 footed p.j's a winnie the pooh dress (I tried to get one that matched what her bedding looked like), a small pack of diapers and a big package of wipes :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for the unwelcome advice and comments...take everything with a grain of salt. Everyone's experience is different. Tell Matt not to be to concerned with his "non Dad" friends either, they don't know what they're missing yet.
